The Department of Pathology organized a Public Awareness Program, "World Blood Donor Day" on 16-06-2016 at Justice K.S.Hegde Hospital .
The World Blood Donor day was organised by Dept. of Pathology, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy and Blood Bank on 16th June 2016. This day is celebrated as World Blood Donor day to create awareness among the general public to voluntary donate the blood. As there is no substitute for blood, the blood is replaced to a needy patient by a healthy donor. This has to happen by voluntary donation only. With this motive, the programme was carried out in the hospital block, by displaying different posters. There was also a skit programme performed by the KSHEMA student council. The skit programme was witnessed by more than 100 general public and patient’s relatives. There was a voluntary blood donation by the students, NSS volunteers to commemorate World Blood Donor day.
Dr. Sateesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, inaugurated the Programme. Dr Jayaprakash Shetty K, Registrar (KSHEMA), Professor & HOD, Pathology, Dr. Karuna Ramesh Kumar, Medical Suptd., Justice K.S.Hegde Hospital, Dr. Chandrika Rao, Blood Bank Officer, Justice K.S.Hegde Hospital, were the guests of honour.
Dr. Anitha Chakravarthy, Pathology Postgraduate proposed the Vote of thanks.
