Talk on “Issues with Adolescence– Academic and Personal” - NICO

The placement cell of Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) organized a talk on “Issues with Adolescence– Academic and Personal” by Dr. Bageshree Bhandary, at the college auditorium on 10/08/1016.  Dr. Bhandary, a faculty and staff counselor at Nitte University has done immense research on effects of job stress, psychological and lifestyle practices and also studied various psycho social aspect of transgender community in Mangaluru. She has been a member of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists and Member of Central Ethical Committee at Nitte University.  Dr Bhandary spoke about how to control anger, positive and negative effects of it and also the pros and cons in life. She also spoke about the 7 habits of teenagers like react, begin with no end in mind, put first things last, think win-lose, bullying, don’t co-operate, wear yourself out. She said that due to bad peer pressure students get attracted to drugs, alcohol, suicide etc and suggested ways to deal with the loss they face in life. She stressed on the importance of being self confident. It’s not always about academic, talks like this help the students to mould themselves as better individuals and prepare them for the future, as they are going to step out into the real world very soon.  Dr.Bhandary shared her experience as a counsellor in the field of community service. Students had a lot of questions, and they interacted with the speaker who answered very enthusiastically. Ms. Ritika Prabhu welcomed the gathering and Ms.Lakshmi M.R delivered the Vote of thanks.  The programme was attended by the first, second, third years bachelors, the masters students and all the staff members of Nitte Institute of Communication.
