NUCSER BAGS PRESTIGIOUS INDIA - BELGIUM PROJECT

NUCSER has bagged a project for faculty and student exchange for three years starting Jan 2018 under the India-Belgium Proposal for Top Up Grant supported by DST (Govt of India) and BELSPO (Belgian Science Promotion Office).

Project Title: Investigating the Mechanisms of Genetic Disorders using the zebrafish model system (GEN-ZEMO)

Indian PI: Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Deputy Director, NUCSER

Belgian PI: Dr. Ann De Paepe, Rector, Ghent University, Belgium

Only 6 awards have been given in the year 2017, with one each in plant science, animal science, physics, astrophysics, and mathematics. It is a matter of great pride for Nitte University for being the chosen one in health science. Under this program, every year the PI and researchers associated with the project will have opportunities to visit the Partner PI's lab in the respective countries for training in advanced techniques in biomedical science. Nitte University and Ghent University has entered into an MoU earlier this year during the visit of team Nitte to several Universities in the Europe led by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramananda Shetty along with Director R &D, Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Dr. Anirban, Dy. Director, NUCSER, and Dr. Harsha, Professor, KSHEMA as members. This project marks the first successful initiative between these two Universities post MoU exchange.
