March 5th, earmarked as National Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Day by the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics was celebrated by the Dept. of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, ABSMIDS under the aegis of Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde, Vice Principal & HoD and patronage of Nitte (Deemed to be University). A week long program was arranged which culminated on the 5th March, 2018.
Prof. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya, Pro Vice-Chancellor inaugurating the table clinic session The program was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University). In his address to the public he emphasized on the need for materialization of innovative ideas and appreciated the outlook of the Institute.
The Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics – Study Group, an initiative of Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde with the support of the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest. The group will serve as a platform to reinforce and shape the future of the specialty and dedicated to advancing the art and science of the specialty, by conducting conferences, seminars, continuing dental education programs, workshops and research promotion by introducing a journal. The group already in play through Whatsapp Messenger platform comprises of 66 faculty members and clinicians of the specialty and 185 postgraduate students from A. J. Institute of Dental Sciences; Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences; K. V. G. Dental College, Sullia; Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru; Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal; Srinivas Institute of Dental Sciences; Yenepoya Dental College and A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences.
The Department conducted paper, e-poster and table clinic competitions for the benefit of students, with over 200 participants. On the 5th of March, inter-collegiate paper, e-poster and table clinic competitions with 150 participants from 8 colleges was held. The table clinic session was inaugurated by the Chief guest which served as an awareness program for the public. The prize winners were awarded certificates in the formal event.
A continuing Dental Education Program – Direct and Indirect Composite Restorations -Simply Chairside, comprising of lecture and hands-on session by Prof. (Dr.) Vinod Kumar B, Founder & CEO of Dental Health Organization sponsored by VoCo followed the formal session, with over 150 participants.
