Workshop on Curriculum Implementation - KSHEMA

The Medical Education Unit of K S Hegde Medical Academy conducted a Workshop on Curriculum Implementation from 18th to 20th June 2019 at the college premises. The Workshop was conducted in association with St Johns Medical College, MCI Nodal Centre for Faculty Development.

Dr Pretesh Kiran, Assoc. Professor of Community Medicine and MEU Member, St Johns Medical College, Bengaluru was the MCI deputed observer. Prof Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) inaugurated the workshop. He stressed the importance of a new curriculum and said that the faculty needs to be prepared to face the challenges of implementing it. Prof Dr Prakash P S, Dean, KSHEMA, Prof Dr Amrith Mirajkar and Prof Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice Deans, KSHEMA were also present.

Concepts like competency-based medical education, alignment and integration, foundation course, skill development, electives, early clinical exposure, assessment issues, GMR 2019, curricular governance and the role of faculty development were discussed. Dr Harsha H N, Dr Kishan Prasad H L, Dr Srinivas Bhat, Dr Rashmi Kundapur and Dr Sukanya Shetty were the resource persons. A total of 28 Professors from pre/para/clinical specialities participated in the program.

Swachh Manas - Student Training Program - MRSM EMHS

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. To spread this message of awareness, 100 students from the school participated in Swachh Manas - Student Training Program initiated by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru on 27th June, 2019 in the school.

Swachh Manas aims at educating young minds on cleanliness. In this connection, Mr Arjun Shivakumar, resource person associated with Sri Ramakrishna Math administered Swachhata Oath and handed over the badges to the students and registered them as Swachhata Senanis (cleanliness soldiers). He explained about environment pollution and measures to control it. He motivated the students to be the agents for change and inculcate the habits of cleanliness in their life as well as in the neighbourhood.

Karunya - NIPT

‘Karunya’- A helping hand for the disabled is a voluntary unit run by the faculty of NIPT with voluntary contributions. Karunya donated a pair of functional knee brace to a 14-year old girl diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy on 28-06-2019. It was handed over by Dr. Mallikarjunaiah H S, Assoc. Professor, Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy, Bangalore and Dr. Prem Kumar Bhojara, Assoc. Professor, Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy, Bangalore.


Inauguration of School Cabinet - NSAMEMS

The new school cabinet for the year 2019-20 was inaugurated ceremoniously. The Principal, Mrs. Radha Prabhu led the Head Boy, Head Girl and other cabinet members in the oath taking ceremony and pinned the badges on leaders and highlighted on good qualities of leadership.

The Head Boy and Head girl expressed their gratitude to the school management for their nomination and assured to carry out their duties diligently.

The program ended with the vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

International Yoga Day - MRSM EMHS

International yoga day was celebrated in school on Friday, 21st June 2019. Mrs. Kanchana Ganesh, a local yoga instructor addressed the students on this years theme, how yoga can solve problems related to environment. Being a complete package for health and beyond, contributed by India to the world, she urged students

to practice yoga daily. She explained the various health benefits, both physical and mental leading further to the absolute reality 'The Brahman'. The demonstration began with ground exercises leading to Parswa kati chakrasana, Vrikshasana,Veerabhadrasana, Garudasana and a few pranayama exercises. Students from class 4 took part enthusiastically with parents and members of the staff.

Public Awareness Program - KSHEMA

As part of World Environment Day, the Department of Community Medicine, KSHEMA in association with Sasihithlu RHTC held an awareness program on Environment Pollution on 20th June 2019. The program was conducted in collaboration with Yuvaka Mandala, Sasihithlu.

Dr. Sanjeev Badiger, Head, Department of Community Medicine, planted saplings and spoke of the hazards of pollution. Dr Indushekhar Shetty spoke of environmental sanitation and sanitary methods of waste disposal in the local language. The gathering was welcomed by Mr Santhosh N P. Mr Raghunath Karkera, Vice President of the Alumni Association, Sasihithlu proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Praveen Karkera, President of the Yuvaka Mandala was present.

The program was moderated by Mr Santhosh & Mr Dileep and co-ordinated by Dr Shambhavi, PG, Department of Community Medicine and interns, Dr Shreesha, Dr Sushravya, Dr Kevin and Dr Irfan Harris.

National Yoga Day - Dr. NSAMPUC, Nanthoor

The faculty, staff and students celebrated the National Yoga Day on 21-06-2019. Presiding over the function, Principal Dr.Naveen Shetty K, briefed the students about the need and importance of Yoga. He urged the students to take yoga seriously as it benefits the individual to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Chief Guest, Sri Lakshmi Narayan, Teacher and Co-ordinator, Sri Patanjali Yoga Shikshaka Samiti, explained the significance of yoga and demonstrated a few yoga asanas.

Vice-Principal Mrs. Annapurna Naik and Yoga teacher Ms. Supriya Alva were present on the occasion.

International Yoga day- 2019 - NIPT

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy organised the International day of Yoga on 21st June 2019 at Pathanjali Hall, NIPT at 7.30 a.m.

Prof. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K.U, Principal NIPT welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest, Acharya Ln. K. Shivaram Rai, Rtd. AGM Vijaya Bank spoke about the importance of Yoga and recent research developments in this field. He shed light on the common protocol to be followed while practising Yoga.

The Honourable Vice- Chancellor, Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary urged students and staff to create a healthy University by practising Yoga on a regular basis and adopting a healthy diet to prevent lifestyle disorders.

International Yoga Day - NGSMIPS

The NSS Unit of NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organised International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019.

Dr. Rashmitha A.P, Lecturer, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy was the Chief guest. Welcoming the guest and the gathering, Dr. C. S. Shastry, Principal explained the importance of yoga and stated that yoga is more relevant today than ever before because it has been proven scientifically and internationally acclaimed to possess the amazing power to calm and soothe the stressed mind, body and the soul.

Later, Dr. Rashmitha guided the staff and students to perform a few aasanaas which was much appreciated by all. The NSS Program officer, Dr. Santanu Saha delivered the vote of thanks.




International day of yoga - NMAMIT

The NSS Unit of NMAMIT in association with the Rotary Club, Nitte celebrated the ‘International Day of Yoga’ (IDY 2019) on 21st June 2019 in the NET Hostel, Nitte.

The dignitaries on stage inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Mr. Shekar Poojari, President of Rotary Club Nitte and Student Welfare Officer of NMAMIT welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Ajith Hebbale, Asst. Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering was the resource person for the event. He delivered a talk on ‘Yogic Concept of Body’. Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT delivered his presidential remarks stressing the importance of Yoga on our health.  Mr. Yogeesh Hegde, Registrar & Chief Warden of NET Hostels, members of the Rotary Club & other faculty members were also present during the occasion. The NSS Officer Dr. Janardhan Nayak delivered the vote of thanks.



International Yoga Day - NSAM EMS




The 5th International Yoga Day was observed in the school. The school assembly highlighted the importance of Yoga and benefits got from performing yoga everyday. The health benefits of different yoga asanas were highlighted . The students were encouraged to perform yoga everyday and also spread its importance amongst other members of the society. Various asanas such as Vajrasana, Padasana, Ekapadaasna, Suryanamskara etc were performed by the students.

International Yoga Day 2019 - ABSMIDS

The NSS unit of ABSMIDS and Art of Living Foundation, Mangalore under the initiative of the Central Government of India celebrated "International Yoga Day 2019" at Vimshati Bhavan, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. Mr Amaranth Mallya, Mr Raghavendra Nagaraj and Ms Kavya Nagaraj from the Art of Living Foundation, Mangalore were the resource persons.

The event began with an introduction to YOGA and the advent of International Yoga Day 2019, by Dr. Kumuda Rao. This was followed by invocation by Ms Athulya; lighting the lamp, presentation of mementos to the resource person and introduction of the resource person. Mr Amaranth Mallya spoke about the importance of yoga in daily life. Mr Raghavendra Nagaraj demonstrated various asanas for neck and lower back relaxation with the assistance of Ms Kavya Nagaraj. An interactive session on meditation and a Q&A session was held at the end of the program.

The students showed active participation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Avaneendra Talwar. Around 156 students and staff participated in the event with keen interest. The program concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
