21st Annual Day Celebration - Dr.NSAM P U College, Nanthoor, Mangaluru
“Corruption cannot be suppressed by one Lokayukta. Youth community must join hands with the administration to build a corruption free society. Only then can we build healthy society” said Justice Perodi Vishwanath Shetty, Lokayukta, Karnataka while addressing the students on the occasion of the Annual Day function of Dr. NSAM Pre University College, Mangaluru at K S Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. He further added that student life is of utmost importance and success can be achieved only through hard work and commitment.
Sri Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte DU in his presidential speech said that the role of parents along with students, has been instrumental in helping Nitte reach its present level. He opined that 60% of the students in all colleges were female. This would in turn make them employable and help in contributing to the progress of the country. The Annual Report of the college was presented by the Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K . Guest of day Dr. Sateesh Bhandary ,Vice Chancellor of Nitte DU; Vice Principal, Annapurna Naik; Program coordinator Mrs. Nalini Shetty; President of Student’s Council Rajath Shetty; Secretary of Student’s Council, Chaitra Prabhu were present on the occasion.
Mrs. Meera Crasta welcomed the gathering; Mrs. Shakunthala Shetty & Mrs. Suman introduced the guests; Mrs. Sangeetha Shetty compeered the program; Mrs. Vaishali presented the details of the meritorious students; Mrs. Divya Shetty K presented the details of students who won Excellence awards and Ms. Veena Ullal proposed the vote of thanks.

Architect Chitra Vishwanath Visits NIA as Juror - NIA
Noted architect, Chitra Vishwanath was at Nitte Institute of Architecture on 15th and 16th November 2019 as Juror for the Vertical Studio design presentation. Her constructive feedback was well appreciated by the students, and she commended them for working with models at each stage of the design process.

“Breast Cancer Awareness” - NUINS
The Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing Department organized an outreach programon “Breast Cancer Awareness” at Balakrishna Mandira Mahila Samithi, Kumpala on 27th November 2019. The program was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp. Prof Philomena Fernandez was the Resource person. She educated the participants on early identification of warning signs, risk factors and management of breast cancer. The session was informative and a total of 45 participants attended this program.
The program was found effective on the basis of statistical analysis of pre-test and post-test administered before and after the program. The pre-test score was 40% and post-test score was 85%. The audience enthusiastically participated in the interactive session and clarified doubts lurking in their minds.
Prize Distribution Ceremony - NSAMPUC, Mangaluru
The Prize Distribution ceremony was held on 21st November 2019 at the college campus. Student achievers were awarded prizes and certificates by the Chief guest, Mr. Roopesh Shetty, Tulu film actor.
In his speech, the chief guest mentioned that nothing could be accomplished without hard work and determination. These are basic requirements to reach one’s goal.
Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K in his presidential address said that it is an honour for the students to receive the award from popular film actor, Mr. Roopesh Shetty whose film “Girgit” has made news at international level. Ananth Shenoy, Commerce student compeered the program. Mrs. Pushpanjali welcomed the gathering; Mrs. Meera Crasta introduced the guest; Mrs.Geetha presented the names of the prize winners while Rajath Shetty, President of Student’s Council proposed the vote of thanks.

Inter class Cultural dance competition - NSAMPUC, Mangaluru
“Love the art and nurture it - Art can be embraced with constant perseverance, “ said Kishore D Shetty, President of Tulu Drama Artist`s Association while inaugurating the inter class cultural Dance competition on 7th November 2019. He added that there is special respect for art in society. He was of the opinion that those who were not well educated have turned to be artists and have won top state and national awards. He said that students should choose a form of art of their choice along with the academics and develop as artists.
Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K in his presidential address said that each student has his or her own talent and the cultural competitions organized by the college offer a platform to showcase their talents. He further said that the dignitaries in cinema & theatre have made a name for themselves irrespective of their backgrounds, purely on account of their passion and dedication to work. This should motivate our students to develop and hone their talents. The judges for the events were Ms. Maithri Kashyap, Cine actor and Ms. Sangeetha Salian, Lecturer from Gokarnatheshwara College, Mangaluru.
The stage came alive when students of different classes staged spectacular dances. The dance troupes from various classes mesmerized the audience with their performances based on the theme “ Indian Culture”. The attractive costumes, dance movements made it tough for the judges to decide on the winners. Students of II PCMB won the first position. The second position was bagged by I EBAS and third place by II CBAS.

Faculty achievement - NUINS
Ms. Divya, Lecturer, Dept of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, has bagged the 2nd best Oral Paper Presentation award for the topic entitled “Effectiveness of animation distraction on pain response during venipuncture among children” at the Ist International Conference organized by Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Nursing, Navi Mumbai, in collaboration with the Society for Research Development in Health Sciences (SRDHS) held on 8th & 9th November, 2019 on the theme “Research ideas in Nursing: Enough light to illuminate the dark tunnel”.

Report on Diabetes day workshop - K S Hegde Hospital
With the aim to prevent diabetes which has grown to epidemic proportions in our country, a one-day Diabetes Workshop was hosted by the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital on 14th November 2019 at the New Auditorium, ABSMIDS. Around 300 delegates comprising of dietitians, doctors, nurses, food science graduates and lecturers from different institutions participated in the scientific sessions.
The workshop was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. Ranjani Harish (Senior Scientist & Head -Translational Research MDRF & Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, Chennai) who also delivered the keynote address on “Importance of Diabetes Education in the Family”.
Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, NitteDU addressed the gathering and Prof. Dr. P. S Prakash, Dean, KSHEMA delivered the presidential address. Prof. Dr. Alka Kulkarni, Registrar, NitteDU, Dr Rajesh, RCHO and Medical Superintendent, Major (Dr) Shivakumar Hiremath graced the occasion.
CME on diabetes management and updates were held. Speakers from different medical departments like Nephrology, Medicine, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Alternative Medicine, Dental, Gastroenterology, Paediatrics, and Nutrition participated in the scientific sessions.

Report on Yes+ program - NGSMIPS
Along with quality education, it is essential to cultivate character and positive personality among the students. Emphasising these aspects NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized Yes + program from 21st to 25th October 2019 for under graduate students. The program was led by Mr. Prashanth Pai, Trainer, Art of living, Mangalore. 23 students enthusiastically participated in the workshop. On the first day Dr. CS Shastry, Principal cordially welcomed the guest trainer and Mr. Srinivas Hebbar Asst. Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics introduced the resource person and stated the importance and purpose of the workshop.
Mr. Prashanth Pai started his workshop with a few attention grabbers that ignited curiosity among the students and urged them to involve in the workshop. He delivered valuable tips on students responsibility, how to make parents happy, how to increase memory power citing some real life examples and logical reasons. His thought provoking questions stirred the students’ interest and made the session very interactive. The 5-day workshop was an amalgamation of various activities that included meditation & sudharshana kriya, with inspiring inputs in order to develop a sense of responsibility and good conduct among the students. At the end of the workshop, participants were psychologically refreshed and motivated to inculcate this process in their routine life.

Awareness walk on World diabetes day - K S Hegde Charitable Hospital
World Diabetes Day is observed on 14th of November every year across the globe. The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital and Department of Public Health, KSHEMA in association with the World Diabetes Foundation organized the Global Diabetes Walk on 14th November 2019 to create awareness and adopt a supportive lifestyle to control and prevent diabetes. The walk began from KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) campus, Assaigoli at 6.15 am and ended at K S Hegde Medical Academy Auditorium at 7.30 am.

Janardhan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. M S Moodithaya, Medical Superintendent, Major (Dr) Shivakumar Hiremath accompanied him along with participants from different institutions and public from the surrounding areas.

Inauguration ceremony of the newly installed Mammography machine - KSHEMA
The inauguration ceremony of the newly installed Mammography machine was held on 8th November 2019 in the Department of Radiodiagnosis. Sri N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor NitteDU, Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice Dean, KSHEMA and Dr Shrikrishna, Head, Dept of Radiodiagnosis inaugurated the newly installed machine.
Siemens Mammomat Inspiration is a 3D Digital Mammography machine with tomosynthesis and stereotactic biopsy facility which is the first of its kind in Mangaluru. As a part of the International Day of Radiology, a talk on "Approach to breast lesion: A Radiologist's Perspective" was delivered by guest speaker Dr Janaki Dharmarajan from Amrita institute, Kochi. Nearly 130 delegates participated in the event
