Dr. Shripad G Mehandale, HoD, Anesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA, welcomed the gathering. Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Ms. Bindushree P, the Chief Guest of the program congratulated the management of Nitte University for organizing this unique training program to empower the health workers, as health facilities are limited in rural areas. Ms. Malini, CEO of Kotekar Town Panchayath was the Guest of honor. She suggested that many more similar collaborative activities be conducted in the future for the development of Kotekar village.
Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU, in his presidential address said that most of the health-related problems are the outcome of negligence and lack of awareness. 'Apathbandhu' is a new initiative focused on the empowerment of the rural community in first aid & emergency care. He distributed the tool kits to the trainees.
Dr. Neetha Kamath, Program Coordinator, 'Apathbandhu' spoke about the detailed activities of the training program. Dr. Fatima D’silva, Principal, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Ms. Jeevitha Alva, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Child Health Nursing, NUINS.
