News from ABSMIDS | 9th CERTIFICATE COURSE ON CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology conducted the 9th batch of the 4-day Certificate course on “Cone Beam Computed Tomography” from 6th to 9th June 2022 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) US Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean and Dr. Vidya Ajila, Head, Dept. of OMR.

Dr. Ananya Madiyal, Lecturer, Dept. of OMR was the Course Co-Ordinator.

The four-day extensive hands-on course included the applications of CBCT in various aspects of head and neck imaging in multi-planar dimensions in various specialties of Dentistry, including Oral Implantology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Diagnosis of TMJ disorders, artefacts in CBCT images, as well as medico-legal considerations relating to the use of CBCT.

Dr. U Raghuraj, Professor & Head, Dept. of Radio Diagnosis, KS Hegde Medical Academy was the external faculty for the course. Internal faculty included Prof. (Dr) G. Subhas Babu, Dr. Vidya Ajila, Dr. Shruthi Hegde, Dr. Renita Castelino, Dr Kumuda Rao, Dr. Supriya Bhat and Dr. Ananya Madiyal from the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology.

Fifteen delegates comprising of external faculty from Bellari and Bareilly, post graduate students and interns from A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences registered for the course. The delegates were impressed with the 8 practical hands-on sessions and the reporting exercises as well as the demonstration of the working and technical aspects of the CBCT machine.
