The Department of General Medicine, KSHEMA organized an Outreach Program to educate the households on Hypertension, at Sasihithlu Rural Health Training Centre on 10th January 2023.
The interns posted at Sashithlu RHTC visited the surrounding houses and explained to the members of the households about hypertension, the causative factors, its adverse effects, preventive measures to be taken and need for regular BP check-up. Blood pressure of the members was also checked during this visit.
The importance of salt restriction in diet, regular physical activity, minimising oily and packed food, consumption of fruits & vegetables was also explained. The advantages of physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for at least 30 minutes daily in the morning, adopting a disciplined life style, relieving stress by building harmonious relationships, avoiding smoking and consumption of alcohol was advocated to reduce hypertension.
