The NSS unit of NUCSER conducted a special camp at Ajjinadka DK Zilla Parishad School at Kotekar Panchayat, Deralakatte, Mangalore from 15th to 18th November 2023. The program was inaugurated by Mr Vikram, Health Inspector, Kotekar Panchayat and Mr Anand from Kotekar Pattana Panchayat. Prof Dr Anirban Chakraborty, Director NUCSER presided over the function.
Dr. Chakraborty spoke on the importance of clean drinking water in the area and the learning opportunities for the children. He appreciated the dental screening camp, organised at the school by the Dept. of Paediatric Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences where over 100 children were screened for dental cavities and follow-up treatment was offered at the dental college.
Dr Rama Adiga, NSS Coordinator briefed the gathering on various activities conducted in the camp. Elocution competition on `Water Conservation & Importance of water in everyday life’, drawing & quiz competitions were conducted for the students.
Mr Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, Nitte DU highlighted the role of water in the Sustainable Development Goals to be adopted by all members of the United Nations. A RO water filter was donated by the NSS unit of Nitte University to the school.
Mr Preetham & Ms Thoisanna, NSS Student Coordinators of NUCSER coordinated the events. 80 volunteers from NUCSER participated in the special camp.
