News from NSAMPUC, Mangalore | World No Tobacco Day

"Tobacco products are available in various forms, quickly attracting the youth. Besides unnecessary expenditure, it can have serious health consequences, leading to deadly diseases like cancer. Moreover, if students become addicted, it negatively affects their studies. Therefore, students should avoid the lure of tobacco. It can ruin their future” said Mangalore City Police Commissioner, Mr. Anupam Agarwal. He was speaking as the chief guest at the Tobacco Awareness program organized at Dr. NSAM Pre-University College, Mangaluru on 31st May 2024.

Resource person, Prof. Srilatha SV, HoD, Oral Pathology, ABSMIDS said, "If we have confidence in ourselves, there is no need for any external stimulants. Those who lack courage fall prey to addictive substances like tobacco. Students should stay away from such things and focus on their achievements."

Dr. Naveen Shetty K, Principal said, "To lead a healthy life, it is important not to fall prey to any bad habits. Tobacco consumption results in loss of money, time and life."

The program was jointly organized by Nitte’s AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, and the NSS Unit of Dr. NSAM Pre-University College, Mangaluru. The event was presided over by Dr. Mitra Hegde, Vice Principal, ABSMIDS.
