The Red Cross Unit of NRAM Polytechnic in association with the Karkala Rural Police Department, organized an Anti-Drug and Road Safety Awareness program on 18th September 2025 to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse, risks of rash driving and the importance of responsible living.
Sri. Prasanna M S, Police Sub-Inspector, Karkala Rural Police Station was the Chief Guest. He cautioned students about the harmful effects of drugs such as MDMA, ganja, cocaine and other synthetic substances. He also explained how early signs of addiction can be recognized and highlighted the medical tests used to confirm substance abuse. He noted that reckless riding, over speeding and failure to wear helmets often result in serious accidents, causing irreparable loss to both victims and their families. Stressing the importance of road safety, he urged students to wear helmets, obey traffic rules and drive responsibly to protect their own lives as well as that of others.
Principal Sri. Vishwanathan K stressed the importance of staying away from drugs and reckless driving. He explained with examples how such habits not only harm students but also cause deep emotional and financial distress to their parents and families.
