The Technical Club of NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte organized a session on “Vasthu and Science” on 3rd September 2025. The resource person for the event was Sri. Arun Shetty, Selection Grade Lecturer, Civil Engineering, NRAMP who delivered an informative talk on the relation between Vasthu architecture and scientific principles. His presentation highlighted how age-old concepts of Vasthu can be understood in the light of modern engineering and environmental science.
Sri Arun Shetty explained the scientific reasoning behind various aspects of Vasthu such as direction, orientation, ventilation, light and spatial arrangement. He emphasized that many Vasthu guidelines, though traditional in origin, align closely with sustainability, energy efficiency and human comfort, which are key considerations in present-day construction and design. The session was interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and raising questions about the application of Vasthu principles in contemporary civil engineering practices. The talk enabled the participants to appreciate the scientific basis hidden within traditional systems and encouraged them to explore further research in this area.
