News from NICO | Screenplay Writing Workshop by Mr. Saumesh Bangera

A Screenplay Writing workshop was organized at the Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) on 14th October 2025, featuring Mr. Saumesh Bangera as the resource person. Mr. Bangera is a multifaceted writer, actor and director recognized for his creative contributions across films, web series and advertising. He is the writer of the popular animated series Andy Pirki on Pogo Channel and the writer-director of the award-winning short film Phus Gaya Sysyphus. As an actor, his notable works include Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vaahana, Roopanthara, Ekam (web series), Withdrawal and Aj Vs The Medium (short films). In advertising, he has written and directed impactful campaigns for brands such as Pioneer 3D, IMJ Institute, The Skin Clinic, Bhargavi Builders, Trayi Jewellers and Ideal Ice Cream’s April Fool campaign.

Mr. Bangera engaged the students in insightful discussions on the craft of screenplay writing, covering aspects such as structure, character development and visual storytelling. The session was interactive and intellectually stimulating, encouraging students to think critically about writing for the screen. Participants also took part in practical exercises, which allowed them to apply theoretical concepts creatively.

The workshop offered students valuable exposure to professional writing techniques and the real-world process of storytelling in cinema. It concluded with an engaging Q&A session, leaving students inspired and motivated to explore screenwriting further.
