News from JKSHIM | Alumni Reconnect Series | Expert Talk: Learning the Art of Sales from the Field

Mr. Mitchell D'Almeida, Former Manager, Dalmia Cement and alumnus of JKSHIM (2003-05), delivered a guest lecture on 6th December 2025 on "Strategies & Challenges in Direct Sales and Distribution Management: Building Effective Channel Partnerships for Market Success" which offered students practical lessons drawn from his extensive experience with Birla White, Ultratech Cement, Ambuja Cement, Century Plywood and Dalmia Cement.

He emphasized that field sales form the foundation of marketing and that great selling begins with truly listening to customers. Staying informed about different companies helps build industry awareness. While many MBA graduates tend to avoid sales roles, D'Almeida reminded students that real learning starts on the ground, in the field.
