The NSS Cell of Nitte University in collaboration with Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER) and DK Pre-University Colleges Principals’ Association organized a Science Quiz on 15th November 2025 at the University campus, Deralakatte to promote scientific curiosity, critical thinking and develop scientific acumen among pre-university students.
Mr. R J Sudeep, a well-known Quiz Master of Mangalore conducted the quiz in an engaging and intellectually stimulating manner. The on-stage rounds included a variety of formats such as Rapid Fire, Fastest Finger First and other interactive segments designed to test conceptual understanding, application skills and reflexes.
More than 50 teams (team of 3 members) across various PU Colleges in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts enthusiastically participated in this first of a kind event in the university. The format included a preliminary round, from which 10 teams moved to the pre-final round, followed by the final with 5 teams.
As a token of appreciation, all participating colleges received Participation Certificates along with a customized souvenir mug. The event concluded with a formal Valedictory Ceremony, attended by Dr. Sathish Kumar Bhandary, Vice President, ISR & CRL, Dr Naveen Shetty K, President, DK PU Colleges Principals’ Association, Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER and Mr. Shashi Shetty, NSS Officer during which the winners were honoured with cash prizes and trophies.
The First Prize that included a cash award of Rs.45,000/- along with citation and trophy was bagged by Udupi Jnana Sudha College. The Centre for Advanced Learning, Mangalore bagged the runners up prize that included a cash award of Rs 30,000 along with citation and trophy. SDPT Kateel PU College won the second runners up prize of Rs.18,000/- along with citation and trophy.
