The Sustainable Development Cell and the NSS Unit of Nitte University jointly organised a rally of Electric Vehicles (EVs) on 18th November, 2025. The rally, which started from the medical college campus in Deralakatte, proceeded to the Paneer campus, a distance of approximately three kilometers, to raise awareness among the public about sustainable and eco-friendly transportation. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the significance of the three E’s of transportation - Educate, Engineer, and Enforce - as essential pillars for ensuring safe and sustainable mobility. Dr. Suma Ballal, Deputy Registrar and Chief Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Cell, spoke of the various sustainable initiatives executed by the University, in alignment with global sustainability goals.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from the University staff owning electric vehicles, including Dr. Preetham Shenoy M, Mr. Chethan Subramanya, Dr. M S Ravi, Dr. Caren, Dr. Aditya, Dr. Remya, Dr. Swathi, Dr. Varsha Shetty, Dr. Ganaraj Kulamarva, Ms. Smitha S Rao, Dr. Murali Shankar Bhat, Dr. Akhila Bhandarkar and Dr. Anil Shetty.
The program began with a warm welcome from Prof. (Dr) Krishna Sharan, HoD, Radiotherapy & Oncology. Dr. Vinayaka B Shet, Member Secretary, SDG Cell and Mr. Shashikumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, Nitte University were present.
The event reaffirmed the University's strong commitment to the environment and sustainable development.
