News from NMAMIT | Skill Building Workshop - Bar Bending Details by Adani Cements

The Department of Civil Engineering, NMAMIT organized a Skill Building Workshop titled “Bar Bending Details - Neev Abhiyan” in association with the departmental student association - OCEAN and supported by Adani Cements for civil contractors of the Karkala and Udupi regions on 11th February 2026.

Dr. Arun Kumar Bhat, HoD, Civil Engineering emphasized the importance of proper reinforcement detailing and quality construction practices in ensuring structural safety and durability. A technical talk was delivered by Mr. Ramesh Rao, Research Scholar, Nitte focusing on bar bending schedules, anchorage lengths, lap splices, interpretation of structural drawings and common on-site errors in reinforced concrete works. The session provided practical insights and clarified key aspects of reinforcement detailing for field execution.

Industry representatives from Adani Cements also shared best construction practices and quality control measures. The workshop included interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations, enabling contractors to enhance their technical competencies. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shaik Kabeer Ahmed, Assoc. Professor and Mr. Sundip Shenoy, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte. The workshop successfully strengthened industry-academia collaboration and promoted skill development in the construction sector under the banner of Neev Abhiyan.

News from NIPT | LASYA 2025-26

The annual cultural event of Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) LASYA 2025-26 was held on 20th February 2026 at KS Hegde Auditorium.

Chief Guest for the occasion was Smt. Vidushi Shardamani Shekhar, Director, Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangaluru and the Guest of Honour was Dr. Vijith Vittal Shetty, Professor, KSHEMA. Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U,Principal, NIPT welcomed the gathering and emphasized the significance of cultural engagement in the holistic development of students. Both the dignitaries highlighted the importance of extra-curricular activities alongside academic pursuits to nurture creativity, confidence, teamwork and leadership qualities. Ms.Mayuri Shukla, Faculty, NIPT delivered the vote of thanks.

Following the formal inaugural function, the event transitioned into a series of informal cultural competitions and performances including Folk dance, Skits, Mad-Ad presentations, Fashion show and special performances. Students showcased remarkable talent, creativity & coordination through diverse themes and celebrated cultural diversity while strengthening the spirit of unity and collaboration.












News from NIHS | Workshop on Learning the Art of Mixology by Monin

A workshop on Learning the Art of Mixology conducted by Monin was organized on 24th February 2026 at the institute for the students of Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services to provide practical knowledge of beverage preparation and flavor combinations.

Students learned about different syrups, mixing techniques, proper measurements and presentation styles. The trainer explained the importance of hygiene and creativity in beverage service.





News from NMAMIT | Teck-KNO'26

The Department of MCA, NMAM Institute of Technology, in association with Thought Grain Solutions, successfully organized “Teck-Kno’26”, a technical fest for undergraduate students from Udupi, Kundapur and Dakshina Kannada Districts. There were 104 participants in all, representing 18 undergraduate colleges, who enthusiastically participated in the event. The purpose of this event was to boost MCA admissions. All participants were also provided with a comprehensive tour of the campus facilities. The Department's faculty had previously visited institutions in Udupi, Kundapur, and Dakshina Kannada Districts and spoke to the students, emphasizing the advantages of enrolling in Nitte's MCA program.

Mr. Arunachala Shetty, Co-Founder of Thought Grain Solutions, inaugurated Teck-KNO'26 program, and in his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of adapting to the advancements in Artificial Intelligence. He encouraged students to collaborate with AI technologies rather than view them as a threat. He also advised students to focus on learning multiple programming languages and to embrace continuous learning in order to stay relevant in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Gopal Mugeraya, Vice President – Technical Education, remarked that while Artificial Intelligence is powerful, it cannot replace human emotional intelligence, decision-making abilities, and common sense. He congratulated the MCA department for organizing a meaningful and timely event that benefits students academically and professionally.

The program was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, who highlighted the importance of collecting data from various departments and stressed that students should understand how to effectively utilize data in their project work.

Dr. Mamatha Balipa, Head of the MCA Department, welcomed the gathering and outlined the objectives of the program. Dr. Spoorthi P. Shetty introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Mangala Shetty, Coordinator of Teck-Kno’26, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Sathwika Jain.

Teck-Kno’26 served as a valuable platform for students to assess their technical competencies and gain firsthand experience of real-time technical and HR interview processes followed in the industry.

Three experts from Thought Grain Solutions conducted technical and HR interviews for the participants. At the valedictory ceremony, Yenepoya College, Moodbidri secured the first prize with a cash award of ₹10,000. Vijaya College, Mulki won the second prize with ₹5,000, and N.S.A.M. First Grade College, Nitte secured the third prize.

News from NICO | BEACONS 2026 - Intercollege fest

BEACONS 2026, the two-day intercollege fest organized by Nitte Institute of Communication was successfully held at NICO premises on 20th & 21st February 2026, bringing together 38 teams from 23 colleges across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi regions. The fest created a vibrant platform for students to showcase creativity, communication skills and teamwork through a range of 18 engaging competitions.

The inauguration was graced by renowned mime artist and Kannada film actor Mr. Mime Ramdas along with popular radio host, RJ Dushyanth, whose inspiring presence energized participants. The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Air Commodore Sunil K Pai, who addressed the students with motivating words on leadership and discipline.

The fest was coordinated by Dr. Pranamya Bhat & Mr. Prakash K, faculty, NICO along with student representatives, Ms. Himani, Ms. Ayesha and Mr. Yases Smith.

In the Solve-A-Thon 1.0, a 24-hour National Level Hackathon organized by Srinivas Institute of Technology on 20th & 21st February 2026, Dr. NSAM FGC Nitte team comprising of Mr. Ronith Tharun Joshi, Ms. Prarthana Jain, Mr. Royston Menezes (III BCA) and Ms. Clanita Rashmi Dsouza, (III BSc Data Analytics) won the First place in Track 1 Category.

News from NSAMEMHS | Talk on Adolescence

Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte organized a talk on 'Adolescence' by Mr. Ankith Kumar, Counsellor, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, for the students of Class 7 & 8 on 21st February 2026.

Mr. Ankith explained that adolescence is a crucial stage of life, marked by significant physical, emotional and psychological changes. He highlighted common challenges faced by teenagers, such as mood swings, peer pressure, stress and confusion. To navigate these hurdles, he gave practical advice such as practicing yoga, building self-confidence and maintaining open communication with parents and teachers. The session was highly informative and interactive. The students participated enthusiastically, asking questions and clarifying their doubts.

News from KSHEMA | INCEPTIO’26 - Medical Ideathon

INCEPTIO’26, an interdisciplinary Medical Ideathon, was organized by AAROH, the undergraduate student research club in collaboration with Atal Incubation Center (AIC), Nitte on 9th February 2026 at MEU Hall, KS Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University.

A total of 52 abstracts (250+ participants) were received from institutions across Mangalore and Nitte. Prof. (Dr) Sandeep Rai, Dean, KSHEMA delivered the welcome address. Chief Guest, Dr. A P Achar, CEO, AIC-NITTE Incubation Centre, highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare innovation and expressed continued support for future research and innovation initiatives.

The event fostered interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraged students to engage in problem-driven innovation in the medical field.



News from KSHEMA | One-day CME cum Postgraduate Conclave Forensic Update 2.0

The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology organized a one-day CME cum Postgraduate Conclave - Forensic Update 2.0 on 14th February 2026 at Lecture Hall 1, K S Hegde Medical Academy.

The scientific sessions featured Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Assoc. Professor, KMC, Manipal who spoke on Forensic Examination of Skeletal Remains. Dr. Arun M, Professor & Head at JSS Medical College, Mysuru delivered a presentation on Forensic Radiological Age Assessment.

Dr. Rachana V. Prabhu, Professor,Yenepoya Dental College, Deralakatte spoke on Forensic Dental Age Assessment. Dr. Ullasa Shetty, Professor & Head, AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore presented on Assessment and Certification of Injury. Dr. Smitha Rani, Assoc. Professor, JSS Medical College, Mysuru concluded the sessions with a talk on Medico-Legal Examination and Reporting in Sexual Assault Survivors.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ajmal Bin Latheef, Asst. Professor, Forensic Medicine, KSHEMA. The program was attended by 211 participants.

News from NRAMP | Workshop on “Picture Abhi Baaki Hai”

The NSS Unit of NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte organized a workshop, Picture Abhi Baaki Hai on 17th February 2026 for the first-year student volunteers of the NSS Unit to motivate them towards personal growth, goal setting and positive thinking.

JC Rakesh Hosabettu, National Trainer, India, delivered an inspiring session by presenting the journeys of successful personalities such as Vikram Sarabhai, Milkha Singh, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Usain Bolt to emphasize determination, hard work and continuous learning. He encouraged students to stay updated with the latest developments, make use of modern tools including AI for learning and adopt the habit of updating themselves regularly.

He also explained Stephen R Covey’s Time Management Matrix and guided students on prioritizing tasks effectively by focusing on important activities like exam preparation and goal setting. He highlighted the importance of adapting to changing situations, eliminating time-wasting habits and bringing out the leadership qualities within oneself, thus motivating students to take charge of their personal and professional growth.

Dr. Mona Jacqueline Mendonca, delivered an insightful guest lecture on 2nd February 2026 to the 8th semester Hotel Management and 2nd semester Hotel Management / Culinary Arts & Management / Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality students, focusing on the essential roles of personal grooming, professional attire and communication in the hospitality industry.

Through interactive role-playing and real-life case studies, students gained practical skills in etiquette and dining manners to enhance their professional success.

On 30th January 2026, Mr. Shanu Varughese, Director Al Habtoor Grand Resort, Marriot Hotels, Dubai UAE conducted an online session for the Hospitality and Tourism students of Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services, on the core principles and strategies of revenue management.
