News from NISH | Community Awareness Program on Learning Disability

Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing (NISH) conducted a Community Awareness Program on ‘Learning Disability’ on 26th May 2026 at St. Joseph’s Joyland School, Kotekar, Mangalore.

The session was delivered by subject expert Dr. Deepthi K. J., Professor, Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing. The resource person highlighted key aspects of learning disabilities, including their characteristics, early signs, causes and impact on academic performance and daily functioning. Emphasis was placed on the importance of early identification and timely intervention in supporting children with learning disabilities. The session addressed common misconceptions surrounding learning disabilities and discussed strategies that parents and teachers can adopt to facilitate effective learning and participation in educational settings.

The program witnessed active participation from the school teachers, who engaged in discussions and clarified their queries related to learning disabilities in children.
