News from ABSMIDS | World oral health day and international women’s day

The Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS in association with Pierre Fauchard Academy; Famous Youth Club & Mahila Mandali, Thokur; Dept. of Youth Empowerment & Sports, GoI; MY Bharat Dept. of Youth Empowerment & Sports, DK; Dept. of Sports Mangalore; Rotary Club, Baikampady; Padupanambur Grama Panchayat; Shri Subramanya Anganwadi Kendra, Thokur as part of Unnath Bharath Abhiyan, commemorated World Oral Health Day and International Women’s Day on 21st March 2026 at Shri Subramanya Anganwadi Kendra, Thokur.

The program was presided over by Mr. Gururaj S Poojary, President, Famous Youth Club, who urged the audience to build a healthy lifestyle, as both men & women in society are increasingly becoming victims of adverse oral habits. The resource person, Dr. Sahana Maben, Clinical Coordinator, ABSMIDS and Institutional Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, spoke on the importance of oral health and the role of women in building a healthy society.

The session emphasized the importance of oral health, common oral diseases, their treatment, preventive measures and the ill effects of tobacco. The participants were encouraged to cultivate good oral health habits to ensure overall well-being and to contribute to building a healthy society. Toothpaste provided by Group Pharmaceuticals was distributed to all the beneficiaries.

A skit was performed by the III BDS students to educate the women and other participants about the importance of oral health. Mr. Bhaskar Amin, Past President of the Famous Youth Club, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Mohammed Sharif, President of Rotary Club, Baikampady, delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Premalatha Yogeesh, President, Famous Club Mahila Mandali and In-charge of Shri Subramanya Anganwadi Kendra, Thokur, compered the program.
