News from KSHEMA | Suturing 4.0 Workshop

The Basic Suturing Workshop: Its Types and Techniques, organised by Incīsiō, the Undergraduate General Surgery Club of KSHEMA, was held on 14th March 2026 at the Surgery Library, Academic Block, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital.

Designed for 20 first-year MBBS students, the workshop aimed to introduce the fundamentals of surgical suturing, familiarise participants with instruments & materials and provide hands-on training in a supervised environment. Uniquely conducted entirely by trained student committee members, the session began with an overview of suturing principles, followed by demonstrations through instructional videos and guidance. Participants were divided into small groups to ensure personalised attention and practiced basic techniques, progressing to vertical and horizontal mattress sutures with continuous support. A short suturing competition added an interactive element, helping students improve speed and precision.
