NUCSER celebrated International Women’s day on 12th March 2019 at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus. Ms. Kavitha Shastri, Ex District Governor, Lions International, Mangalore was the chief guest for the function. In her address, Ms Kavitha emphasized on the importance of the day and highlighted the achievements made by women around the globe. She further highlighted that the mindset of people need to change as far as the capabilities of women are concerned. Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Director of NUCSER presided over the function and spoke about her experiences as a woman researcher and an administrator over the years. Student welfare officer, Dr. Smitha Hegde and Women’s Cell Co-ordinator, Dr. Rama Adiga, who also delivered the vote of thanks, hosted the function.
An Elocution contest was conducted for the students on the topic “Gender Equity and the Present Scenario”. Ms Sreya Saikrishnan, the Student Council President was the Master of Ceremony for the program.
